Barolo Apericena Wine Class

With Caterina Burzi

hosted by Scott Thomas

Apericena (a-per-ee-chaina) - a social hour that begins as an aperitivo and segues into a wine-filled dinner.

We can call this a sip and learn, a wine class, or just a great excuse to gather in conviviality as we explore wines.

Join us as we launch our 2025 Apericena Wine Class Series with the acclaimed Barolo producer, Burzi. This special evening brings Caterina Burzi, part of a dynamic brother-sister duo, to our communal table to share the captivating story of their family farm in La Morra.

The Burzi legacy is a remarkable tale of revival. Though their grandparents were important winemakers in the region, winemaking skipped a generation when Caterina’s and Alberto’s parents chose a different path. Determined to honor their roots, Caterina and Alberto are now breathing new life into their family's vineyards with youthful energy, innovative ideas, and a deep respect for tradition.

Led by our wine director, Scott Thomas, and Caterina herself, this evening offers an engaging conversation about Barolo, Nebbiolo, and the rich history of the Burzi family.

You don’t need to be an expert to attend—this series is designed for passionate wine enthusiasts eager to learn directly from the producer. Whether you're taking your first steps into the world of Barolo or are already a devotee, this is a rare opportunity to deepen your understanding of one of Italy’s most celebrated wine regions.

Expect a relaxed and convivial evening with:

  • A light two-pasta dinner, chef-curated charcuterie and light dessert.

  • A guided tasting of the entire Burzi lineup, including three vintages of their coveted "Capelot" Barolo Vigne Vecchie (70 year old vines -2013, 2015, and 2019), 2019 "La Serra" Barolo, 2019 Barolo "normale", Barbera d’Alba “Plaustra”, Langhe Nebbiolo "Runcaja", and a special surprise wine only available at our event. 8 wines total.

  • The company of like-minded wine lovers around our communal table

Don’t miss this unique chance to connect with the passion and expertise of the Burzi family while enjoying an unforgettable evening of food, wine, and discovery.
